Chinese 5 Color Pepper Seeds

Size

With its many hues, the Chinese 5 Color is a real show stopper that brings in shades of purple and cream in the garden. Compact and easy to grow, these peppers mature like a rainbow in five colors and gains in heat as they change color, turning from cream, purple, yellow, orange, and finally red.  “5-color” is in the name, so it’s no surprise to how they transition to 5 different colors!  The Chinese 5 Color Pepper is a small, conical, ornamental type pepper that grows to about an inch in length and provides a sweet yet bitter flavor with an earthy aftertaste.  The Chinese 5 Color Pepper Plant grows over 4 feet tall and produces over 100 peppers per plant on average.  These are great to eat raw and cooked such as boiling, stir-frying, and roasting.  You can even make salsa, dips, and hot sauces!

Easy to germinate and fun to watch grow

I recently purchased the 10+ seed pack from PJ and, being new to pepper growing, didn't know whether I would be able to get them to germinate. These seeds came in a closed envelope with a picture of a developed 5 color on the label. I started my seeds on Sunday in a 50mm peat pellet under 18/6 light schedule and by day 9, I've got 3 starts showing the cotyledons(new $10 word for first leaves) and the stalks on the sprouts are very pretty purple. I'm so excited that this is my first indoor grow and can't wait to show what I've been calling the "Xmas light bulb" plant.

100's of peppers

The germination rate was 9 out of 10 as promised. The survival rate was 7 out of 10. The plants are healthy small pepper plants. A germinated a second package with the same survival rate 6 weeks later. Each will grow up to 4 feet tall producing a hundred peppers.
Bought from California seed & Garden company. Happy so far. Will I really get 1400 peppers?
