Love the Carolina Reaper? Well, you should try the Chocolate Reaper, a chocolate-colored variation of the Carolina Reaper pepper plant! The Chocolate Reaper plant will grow to around 3-4 feet and produces many wrinkled brown hot peppers with pointed tips. The Chocolate Reaper pepper has a very strong floral aroma, and its flavor is similar to the Carolina Reaper but with a hint of a smoky taste upfront. We’ve also heard there are hints of cinnamon and chocolate undertones, but you be the judge and tell us! The Chocolate Carolina Reaper peppers will turn from green to brown when it is mature.

WARNING: Plants adjust to small, gradual changes in their environment better than sudden shifts, which is what the hardening off process is all about. Just as you get burned when you bare your untanned skin to the sun, leaves of plants started indoors will develop pale, sunburned patches if they are suddenly exposed to too much sun. The story has a happier ending when you introduce seedlings to bright light and sheltered breezes gradually, over a period of one to three weeks. Read more information on how to harden off and transplant pepper plants in 6 steps.

Chocolate Reaper

They are getting ready to flower! We are in Wisconsin and the Reapers started coming full force late September and then we got a killing frost, so I’m trying to see if I can over winter the live plants to get a jump on my growing season. I was able to over winter a Bell pepper 🫑 last winter so we will try with the Reapers also!

Great Heat

Bought the plants back in April and Just started getting ripe one. One stayed small and bushy and one got taller. Both producing a healthy amount and the heat is definitely up there. Great Smoky flavor to these too before the heat hits ya.

So far I am beyond happy with my chocolate reaper plants. They are still alive and healthy, growing nicely. They got here packaged safely with clear instructions on how to be successful, they haven’t started fruiting yet but shouldn’t be long!
