Now YOU can decide the age-old debate on which one is hotter, the Habanero or the Scotch Bonnet? Don't let the smoky flavor fool you, it is Nuclear HOT so handle these Caribbean scorchers with care! The plant produces peppers that grow to around 1.5 inches, just like the Habanero. You can expect to taste a slightly sweet taste with hints of apples and cherries, but the heat will kick in immediately after a bite. The Scotch Bonnet peppers are important in Jamaican cuisines and in dishes of other Caribbean Islands. We recommend trying these peppers in a Jerk Chicken dish or a hot sauce!

WARNING: Plants adjust to small, gradual changes in their environment better than sudden shifts, which is what the hardening off process is all about. Just as you get burned when you bare your untanned skin to the sun, leaves of plants started indoors will develop pale, sunburned patches if they are suddenly exposed to too much sun. The story has a happier ending when you introduce seedlings to bright light and sheltered breezes gradually, over a period of one to three weeks. Read more information on how to harden off and transplant pepper plants in 6 steps.
I'm delighted - yes delighted - with how great these plants look and how they were shipped. Minimal plastic, biodegradable pots, and some even had two plants per pot, totally worthwhile. They even came with a little packet of "Kelp Blast" fertilizer.
Scotch bonnet peppers are the best, flavorful and spicy. Ordered and received plants as promised, with instructions to transplant. Which was useful. Overall, a pleasure to deal with Pepper Joe - a repeat customer, and I highly recommend them to everyone. Thanks.
Unfortunately USPS messed up the first order I placed and they didn't show up for 12 days. I contacted Pepper Joe - their customer service was fantastic! They sent out a replacement immediately, and they arrived in about 4 days. The new plants were packaged well and very healthy! I followed the directions for transplanting and giving them some time to acclimate before putting them outside, and now they're doing great! They've already grown 4 or 5 inches since being repotted, and they look very healthy. I expect I'll get a great harvest from them in a month or two. Scotch Bonnets are a bit hard to find, so I'm very happy that Pepper Joe offered these. Happy customer! Thanks, Pepper Joe!
