The 7 Pot Lava Chocolate pepper is a cross between the Moruga Scorpion and the 7 Pot Primo by a Tennessee grower named Judy. This cross is INCREDIBLY hot, with average heat levels reaching 1,800,000 SHUs!
These pepper plants grow up to 4 ft. tall and produce 2" long pods shaped similarly to a Scorpion pepper, but without the stinger. When mature, these peppers ripen to a dark brown color with shiny and wrinkly skin.
The chocolate variety of the 7 Pot Lava peppers is believed to be the most pungent of all 7 Pot peppers. This pepper delivers a sweet molten heat that will knock you flat on your butt. Like other chocolate varieties, one can expect a smoky flavor. These peppers are used best to add (sparingly!) to salsa, hot sauce, and cooked foods. If you do try to eat these fresh, have some milk handy!
