Looking for a pepper to make you cry...in a good way? The Habanero Mayan Red pepper, or also known as the Habanero Maya Red pepper, is an outstanding pepper to grow but will burn your tongue pretty quickly!
The pepper plant will produce 3-4" long bright red, glossy, lantern-shaped peppers, and the peppers are longer and more slender than the typical Habanero. These peppers will ripen from green to bright red, and they can be ready to eat when they are green after 70 days or when they are red around 90 days. The red habanero peppers are similar in shape to the Paper Lantern pepper, but these are larger. The pepper plants have early maturity and produce well in cooler climates. So, if you live in a northern climate and love super-hot peppers, then you must try growing these peppers!
Once you take a bite of the crunchy, juicy pepper, you’ll taste sweet, fruity tones with a less Habanero flavor. These peppers are great for making sauces and marinades, and are also good for frying and making chili powder.
