Also known as the Long Red Slim Cayenne pepper, the Long Red Narrow Cayenne pepper has a rich spicy flavor with just the right amount of heat for most folks. It's hotter than the Jalapeno but not as hot as a Habanero. If you're making a powder or flakes, try slightly roasting them in the oven with the broiler on before grinding up. Cayenness are dependable producers and early enough for shorter summers. Also, they are very good diced up fresh and used to top off many dishes.
The pods are often curled, wrinkled and twisted, and they grow to around 5-6 inches long with tapered ends. They’re so thin that they look like pencils. This is a great heirloom pepper to grow!
