👉What We’re Growing, How We’re Growing It, and What to Expect This Year
Ever wonder how your pepper plants are grown before they arrive at your door?
At Pepper Joe’s, growing peppers has always been at the center of what we do. We also know that trust is built through transparency, not just experience.
This season, we’re opening the virtual doors to our hydroponic greenhouse and sharing regular updates so customers can see how we grow live pepper plants that are shipped ready to be planted in home gardens, as well as how we grow pepper plants specifically for seed production so customers can start their own peppers from seed.
🌱Why We’re Sharing Weekly Greenhouse Updates
Growing peppers is a week-by-week process. Decisions made early, from seed starting to light and watering, can have a big impact later in the season.
By sharing regular greenhouse updates, we want to give customers a clearer understanding of:
-
-
How our pepper plants are started and cared for
-
-
-
How plants grown for seed harvesting are managed differently
-
-
-
What we’re monitoring and adjusting throughout the season
-
-
-
How those decisions affect plant quality and seed reliability
-
Our goal is simple: to be transparent about how we grow our pepper plants and why we do things the way we do, so customers can see the process and apply those same practices when growing peppers themselves.
🏡What Happens in the Pepper Joe’s Greenhouse
Our greenhouse supports two main growing paths, and all of our plants are grown using a hydroponic growing system. While the plants may look similar early on, they are grown with different end goals depending on whether they are intended to be shipped as live pepper plants or grown specifically for seed production.
🚚Growing Live Pepper Plants
Our live pepper plants are grown hydroponically with a focus on transplant success and shipping durability. From root development to overall plant health, every decision is made to ensure plants arrive strong, healthy, and ready to continue growing once they reach your home garden.
If you’re curious about what we’re growing this season, you can explore the current selection on our Live Hot Pepper Plants page.

🌶️Growing Plants for Seed Production
Plants grown for seed are treated differently. These plants are selected, spaced, and managed to prioritize seed quality and genetic integrity. This often means longer growing timelines, additional monitoring, and careful handling to ensure the pepper seeds harvested meet our standards.
By sharing this behind-the-scenes process, we aim to give growers a closer look at how the pepper seeds we produce are grown, so they can apply those same principles at home using the grow supplies that support each stage of the process.

Both of these processes happen side by side throughout the season, and we’ll be sharing insights into each as the year progresses.
👀What You’ll See in Our Weekly Greenhouse Posts
Each week, we’ll share a look back at what actually happened in the greenhouse. These updates may include:
-
-
The current growth stage of our plants
-
-
-
What we’re watching closely that week
-
-
-
Adjustments we’ve made along the way
-
-
-
Challenges or learning moments
-
-
-
How those decisions affect the plants or seeds we sell
-
-
-
A closer look at unique pepper varieties we’re growing, including new plants or natural variation we’re seeing
-
Some weeks will be more active than others. Others will be quieter and more routine, which is part of the growing process.

🌤️Looking Ahead to the Season
This week, seeds are being planted and the foundation for the growing season is being set. While these early stages don’t always look dramatic, they are some of the most important weeks in the entire growing process.
We’re looking forward to sharing the greenhouse work as the season unfolds and giving customers a clearer picture of how their pepper plants and seeds are grown from the earliest stages through the rest of the season.
Stay spicy and we'll see you next week,
