Description:

Amazing peppers!

I give these peppers an A+ for flavor, color and harvest yields. Excellent addition to pizzas and sauces. Be prepared to hang onto something if you put a whole pepper in your mouth! Breathing will light up your tongue with every exhale.

Aji Amarillo Pepper seeds - Look like Mad Hatters

I am very disappointed that the plants that I grew from Pepper Joe’s Aji Amarillo seeds were not Aji Amarillo but something more like Mad Hatters. Of course there is no way to know until it’s too late to replant for this season. I saw other reviews with the same comment so I know I didn’t mix up the seeds. I made space for two in my garden because I so wanted enough to be able to preserve the Aji Amarillos for winter use. Alas - none this year.

I also have issues (as did others) wirh the Banana Supremes being extremely hot and not sweet and had major germination issues with Black Panthers.

I likely won’t be purchasing from Pepper Joes in the future. Too many different issues in one season.

Hi Donna,
Thank you so much for your review! We're so sorry for all the trouble you had with our products. A member of our team will be reaching out shortly to offer further assistance. We appreciate your feedback so we can improve!

Wrong Seeds - Wanted Aji Amarillo, received???

I ordered Aji Amarillo but now the pods are coming along.... well I'm not sure what I have. Aji Fantasy? Mad Hatters? Bishops Crown? TBD, but not what I wanted. Whatever they are I hope they're delicious as I have 6 nicely growing plants.

Disappointing.... especially as my previous order of Copenhagen Orange Bhut went really well.....

Nick,
Thank you for your review! We are so sorry to hear that the wrong seeds were received. Our team will be reaching out to you directly so we can help identify these peppers and also offer resolution for the order mix-up. We look forward to working with you on a resolution!

Nextime I’ll buy the plant

It’s been 45 days after planting the seeds and when my neighbor asked me how the peppers were coming along, I showed him and to my surprise, he told me I had planted them in mulch and not good soil. Don’t make the same mistake I did. Plant them in good rich soil. I guess I’m not a seed guy and will purchase the plants next.

Eugene,
Thank you for your review on the Black Panther Pepper Seeds! We are so sorry to hear that these did not sprout for you. This could be due to a variety of reasons and our team will be contacting you to further assist. We look forward to working with you!

Great so far!

All ten seeds germinated in wet paper towel. Transplanted sprouted seeds to peat pellets and then transplanted the best six into peat pots. All are about three inches tall and looking great!

Not so great germination rate. 10%

I faced a similar issue with the 7 pot bubblegum x Diego drax dream and Dragon's breath seeds. So, I'm grateful that I at least got 1 seed to germinate, hence the 2 star rating and not 1. However, I followed the same methods of germinating other super-hots as with this one. I kept my heat mat at 80-85℉ using a controller, placed them under a humidity dome, and kept the soil from drying out by keeping it moist, but not drenched. After planting on February 16th, 2024, I waited until 3 weeks later on March 7th, 2024, the first and only seed began popping out. I removed the Heat and dome on the on that sprouted and placed it under intense lighting for 16-18 hours a day until the first 2 sets of true leaves appeared. Sadly, the other 9 seeds never sprouted so i finally tossed them after 6 weeks of no activity. I even dug them up to see if any attempted to break the seed casing. some did, some did not. The ones that did had damaged embryos as the cotyledons were hair-strand thin and malnourished looking. Kind of disappointed at the germination rate of these since my MA Wartyx yellows from P-Joes had an 80% success rate. I know that 100% success is farfetched, but am I wrong to think that 10% is reasonably unacceptable? It makes me wonder about the quality of the genetics in the seeds I was sold. Nevertheless, the one that did sprout is growing slowly but surely. this is the progress for a bit over 3 weeks of growth.

Marquez,
Thank you for taking the time to provide a review on the Manzano Yellow, Dragon's Breath, and 7 Pot Bubblegum x Diego pepper seeds. We are so sorry to hear about the poor germination rates you experienced wth these varieties. It sounds like you have a great set-up going for your seeds and these germination rates you experienced are not the standard for our seeds. A customer service representative will be reaching out to you directly so we can discuss this further and provide you with resolution for the issues you experienced with these seeds. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to work with you on this!

Good germination rate 80%

So far, so good. Received 10 seeds on Feb 13th, 2024. Soaked them in diluted chamomile tea for 8 hours (water to soften the coating and tea to help break the coating down) and placed them on a heat mat at 85-90℉ under a humidity dome. Two weeks later on Feb 29, 2024 one of them was sprouting, so i removed the dome and heat, and placed them under intense grow lighting for about 16-18 hours a day until it produced 2 sets of true leaves. 8 of the 10 seeds planted successfully germinated during this time! I'm excited to watch these plants continue to grow.

Wrong seeds

We ordered Aji Amarillo seeds and received yellow habaneros. Pretty annoying to find that out at the end of the growing season after planting an entire row of them. I'm in a gardening FB group where this is so common that it's been dubbed "getting Pepper Joed". Proceed with caution if you are really wanting a specific type of pepper. You may receive it, you may not, and it's hard to tell until the plant starts producing.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We are sorry to hear that the wrong seeds were received. Quality and accuracy of our seeds is very important to us and we appreciate you letting us know of this error. Our customer service team would be happy to work with you on a resolution. You can reach out to them by emailing customerservice@pepperjoe.com.

Chinese 5 color pepper seeds

I planted the pepper seeds March 3rd and by April 8th I saw the first pepper flowers. Looking forward to watching the plant mature. Plant seems to be maturing quickly.

Update May 11th: loads of flowers and tiny peppers plus 1 larger purple pepper. It'll be fun watching the color change to eventually a mature red pepper. Very happy with the seeds and plant.

1 out of 12 reapers germinated

Only 1 out of the 12 reaper seeds germinated. I bought the box of dynamite. I'll give a breakdown of what my germination rate was.
Carolina reaper only 1 out of 12
Reaper scorpion 2 out of 12
Wartryx. 8 out of 12
Ghost. 7 out of 12
Viper. 6 out of 12

I've been using a seed starter greenhouse with heatpad. I've got over 100 arborvitaes and garden veggies growing from seeds under grow lights. But I'm having a problem with these for some reason, mainly the reapers. If something changes ill revisit this review but as of now I won't buy again.

Hello, hot peppers can be tricky to grow. Here is the process we follow and see 95% success rate across the board. They are very particular to soil temp requiring 80-85*. I hope this helps! Please give our customer service team a call at 888-660-2276 for additional questions.

Wasn’t reapers

Only 2 seeds germinated. Started in February, and finally had pods in October. Except what showed up was white 7 pot.
I’ve been growing super hots for 15+ years. I start my seeds at a reputable local greenhouse with all of the proper tools. I bought over a dozen varieties from this site last year, and not a single plant was worth the time, money, or effort. Most of what did produce pods looked, smelled, and tasted like mini habaneros.

Poor germination rate

Only 2 germinated, they stayed the same size for 2 months and then gave up. I bought most of my seeds from this site last year, and not a single plant seemed to be worth it. Most of the ones that did produce looked, smelled, and tasted like mini habaneros. All of my seeds were started in a reputable greenhouse with the proper tools. Beyond disappointed.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with feedback and we are sorry to hear you are not satisfied with your experience. Customer reviews help us to improve our processes as well as the overall customer experience. We are happy to look into this, please send pictures of what you received to customerservice@pepperjoe.com and we will take a look at this.

Superb Jalapeno Variety!

All of my seeds germinated (10) and I had 4 plants to give away this spring. My 6 plants are roughly 7 mths old at this point and nearing the end of the season. Plants are larger than typical jalapenos, easily exceeding 3' in height, with a full diameter and robust branches. The plants are supported with tomato cages to prevent fall over. Peppers are excellent overall with no signs of disease or rotting pods. Plants took a while to get going due to cold spring, but are loaded with 30 or more large 5" pods. I let mine turn red before harvesting, so plant has potential to put out more fruit if picked earlier. Both green and red are very tasty with classic jalapeno flavor and heat. Has a thicker wall flesh that's also crisper than other jalapeno varieties. I've grown most jalapeno varieties, and this is my new favorite and standard! Can't recommend it highly enough, and yes, I wish I would have planted all 10. Enjoy and thank you Pepper Joe's!

Crazy yields

I grew these from starts from pepper Joe's. One of the starts died so only 3 made it. They were the highest yielding peppers I ever grew. Excellent flavor and multiple 5 gallon buckets full of peppers

All 10 seeds germinated

These things germinated super quick. All 10 seeds germinated. Really looking forward to these. Hopefully all the plants make it, and I have a bountiful harvest of these peppers. I’ll edit the review down the road as they grow.

Quick Germination

I sowed all 10 seeds I received in a total of 4 pods. So far 8 days later, all 4 pods have sprouted. 6 of the 10 seeds have sprouted. I’ll have to submit another review further down the road, to see how the plants themselves do. Needless to say, even at this point I’m impressed. I’ve received incredibly good germination rates from Pepper Joe’s so far.

Tasty bell pepper

These are tasty and easy to grow, the plant is now covered in little white/yellowish bell peppers. I've plucked a few and tried them raw and have also cooked some and put them on a pizza. I'm sure i'll grow these again next year.

Not Scotch bonnets

I grew the peppers, but they were not Scotch bonnets. I grew Jamaican mushrooms. The calyx on these were huge.

Hi Monika, we're sorry to hear the peppers didn't meet your expectations. Please contact us directly at customerservice@pepperjoe.com so we can assist you further and ensure your concerns are addressed. Thank you for sharing your feedback.
