Our Live Plant Process

Our Live Plant Growing & Shipping Process

At Pepper Joe's, our live pepper plants are grown with care from the very beginning to ensure customers receive strong, healthy plants ready to thrive.

All of our pepper plants are greenhouse grown hydroponically in rockwool, allowing for consistent nutrition, controlled growing conditions, and strong root development. Many varieties are started as early as December, giving plants ample time to mature before shipping season begins in April.

Each plant is grown to approximately 4 inches before being prepared for shipment. Prior to shipping, every plant is individually inspected by a member of our greenhouse team to ensure it meets our quality standards.

Plants are shipped in a protective mini greenhouse made from recycled material, specially sourced to help safeguard live plants during transit. This packaging helps maintain plant structure and reduce stress while traveling to your door.

When will my pre-order live plant ship?

Pre-order live plants begin shipping in April. Orders are fulfilled based on the shipping week you selected at checkout.
Not sure which week you chose? Log in to your account (or create one using the same email) to view your order details.

All non-Pre-order live plant orders ship the next business day.

Live plants ship only to the contiguous U.S.

Live Plant Refund & Replacement Information

Refund & Replacement Policy

We offer a replacement or refund for live plants reported as damaged or unsatisfactory within a reasonable timeframe, typically 48–72 hours after delivery. Clear photos of the plant(s) and packaging may be required to process a claim.

Additional limits:

We can’t offer refunds or replacements for issues reported more than 7 days after transplanting, as plant health can be affected by factors outside our control.
No refunds or replacements will be issued for dead plants more than 30 days after delivery, under any circumstances.
We offer one replacement per order for all products, including seeds and live plants.
If a replacement is needed but the item is out of stock, we’ll provide a gift card or refund equal to the item value.

In the Great northwest they take a long time to grow its 8 inchs tall I grow in 15 gallon pots filled with happy frog ocean forest soil in a 8 by 16 green house dedicated to peppers don't start getting peppers until late August l start my seeds in mid January looking forward to seeing this year's harvest

I’ll let you know when it starts growing and then when I have some peppers off of it, I’ll let you know how hot it is and the name is awesome but hopefully it is real good. I’ll wait and see.

Unfortunately Seller uses USPS for shipping so my live plants were in shipping for over a week. Plants were stunted out of the box, even with proper hardening they are still the same size as when i recieved the package. Buying seeds from here is ok. However will not be buying live plants from them again unless they offer better shippong options.

The plants were half died when I got them tried to saved them did not work you guys told me no refund not even new ones.

Hot Komodo!

Recently iv trying n buying some of the worlds hottest peppers.. I bought a couple of peppers from pepper Jo's n i am.very satisfied shipping was on time n very well packaged. My plants are growing n thriving. I also had one other pepper dragons breath also hottest in world pepper n it unfortunately didn't grow but it completed died. I asked the associate about what i might of done wrong. I didn't expect much but it totally amazed me that they sent a new set free to compensate n am happy to say these are now growing n thriving in my back yard. Just Unlucky

I want to grow my own hot peppers, and just unlucky. I started in May and I've got the plant 1"tall. I just keep babing it, hoping it grow.

They were almost dead when they got here.

I have brought many peppers back from almost dead. These were not able to be saved. It was a waste of 50 dollars.
Edit: the company has since contacted me and sent me all new plants!! I really appreciate the fact that they wanted to make it right. I will edit again later to inform on how the new plants do.

We also recommend going through the hardening off process and having plants inside for at least a week before slowly transitioning them outside to help them adjust to their new environment and aid in the growing process. They died an my Thai pepper plants died I tried everything I could to keep them alive

I bought several varieties and these plants are tricky at best. However, the Komodo both just dropped dead while at least one survived in the other varieties.

Disappointed

Very disappointed. None of the plants survived. This is the second year I’ve noticed that the plants were very small and not very healthy looking. None survived. I bought the Dragons breath, TRex and Komodo plants.

Komodo dragon peppers

They are still not at the point of producing flowers. They have probably 10-12 leaves and are growing well but they still need more time before I can give a full review. I will say, the plants are healthy and growing well. The seedlings that i ordered were everything I expected and I am very happy with shipping, delivery and the health of the plants.

One of the two dragons I purchased died and the other one is just hanging on. I’ve purchased many plants from pepper joes with good results except these two. plants were and are a disappointment.

Poor things haven't grown at all. Some even died

They arrived in great shape wasn't to fond of the seed pod part but that's what they use and the plants were a little bit on the smaller side then was hoping they'd be a little more established and hardy reason I bought the 2 pack one still growing acclimated well other did not but that's on my greenhouse these are great if going straight to the ground or in temp controlled environment

The plants arrived after a three week delay and were packaged nicely. They were pretty tiny when they arrived. They have yet to really sprout and grow and are still pretty scraggly. I'm not sure that they are going to flower at all. I'm not expecting to get any peppers from them, sadly. I'm pretty disappointed with the plants. They were very expensive and I was hoping they'd be doing much better. My other plants, purchased elsewhere, are doing fabulous.

Fell a little short

I usually get pretty good seedlings from you guys.
This time out of the 4 seedlings I recieved..was was snapped off from the root. The other(same strand of plant) didn't make it a week...
Soo not really impressed/satisfied this last go around.
