Our Live Plant Process

Our Live Plant Growing & Shipping Process

At Pepper Joe's, our live pepper plants are grown with care from the very beginning to ensure customers receive strong, healthy plants ready to thrive.

All of our pepper plants are greenhouse grown hydroponically in rockwool, allowing for consistent nutrition, controlled growing conditions, and strong root development. Many varieties are started as early as December, giving plants ample time to mature before shipping season begins in April.

Each plant is grown to approximately 4 inches before being prepared for shipment. Prior to shipping, every plant is individually inspected by a member of our greenhouse team to ensure it meets our quality standards.

Plants are shipped in a protective mini greenhouse made from recycled material, specially sourced to help safeguard live plants during transit. This packaging helps maintain plant structure and reduce stress while traveling to your door.

Golden reaper

First time trying this one and it was the only one that didn’t make it. Not sure if this required something different but just did not take when transplanted. Ordered 7 different this year and was the only one that didn’t make it

4 day shipping caused harm

Out of the six plants I ordered the Golden Carolina Reaper and the Komodo Dragon plants were in very poor condition after the long shipment. Never could get them turned around ended up dying. Other 4 plants doing well but was really looking forward to the Golden Reaper.

So far, so good.

I live in New Hampshire. Growing hot pepper is challenging here. Not impossible but, challenging. The only way to have them during the weather is to buy them or grow them inside. The latter is what I am attempting this winter.
I had a dozen plants of various species sent to my house. They arrived quickly and in decent health. I transplanted them to lager pots and so far, they are growing well. A few seem a bit stunted but, I expect that is normal. None have failed, yet. This is an experiment for me. My hope is that I can have a crop of hot peppers sometime during the winter. Until they mature, though, I will be getting what I can from our only good Asian grocery in the area. That is the Saigon Market in Manchester, NH.
I have high hopes that this experiment will be successful. For now, all is well.

They all shriveled and died

I got 6 plants, 4 red and 2 gold. Gave great care transplanting the seedlings and kept them in my green house. Monitored temperature, soil moisture and nutrients to no avail. There is one still alive, but it doesn't look good.

Evan,
Thank you for the review on your order! We are so sorry to hear that most of your plants did not survive despite giving them great care. Our team will be contacting you directly to investigate further and offer resolution. Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention!

Very Disappointed

I was not happy with the way the peppers arrived. They were wilted. Followed all instructions on planting, but the plants died within 5 to 6 days. I sent an email to Pepper Joes expressing my concern. Never received an email back.

Thanks,
Kenny

Package was nice. One plant hasn't grown much at all after 50 days.. the other is a beast.Same care given. Different genetics I suppose.

Didn't end well

After receiving the plants within two weeks the leaves fell off and died. I'm sure it was a fluke thing , as I have ordered from these folks before and I will probably do so again.

Wonderful Plant

I was worried about the condition it would arrive in. You guys have got it down though was well preserved in the Package was still very wet around the roots. One plant that I gave someone did die but from lack of care no fault on you guys. The other one is doing wonderful expecting it to flower soon.
