Our Live Plant Process
Our Live Plant Process
Our Live Plant Growing & Shipping Process
At Pepper Joe's, our live pepper plants are grown with care from the very beginning to ensure customers receive strong, healthy plants ready to thrive.
All of our pepper plants are greenhouse grown hydroponically in rockwool, allowing for consistent nutrition, controlled growing conditions, and strong root development. Many varieties are started as early as December, giving plants ample time to mature before shipping season begins in April.
Each plant is grown to approximately 4 inches before being prepared for shipment. Prior to shipping, every plant is individually inspected by a member of our greenhouse team to ensure it meets our quality standards.
Plants are shipped in a protective mini greenhouse made from recycled material, specially sourced to help safeguard live plants during transit. This packaging helps maintain plant structure and reduce stress while traveling to your door.

Unfortunately, the plants took a month to arrive and showed up only a few inches tall. I let them harden before planting but after 6 weeks, they have don’t nothing to grow. Wouldn’t order from here again.
Hi Colleen,
We're sorry to hear about your experience. We appreciate your feedback, we did have a large volume of orders which did put us behind in shipping out our plant orders this year.
Please feel free to reach out to us at customerservice@pepperjoe.com if you'd like to discuss further or need assistance.

Plants took longer to arrive than I expected. They arrived in good shape but were quite small. I nurtured them at home for at least a week before planting them in the garden. They are doing fine but just now starting to flower.
The plants have yielded very few fruits. The pepper plants from a local nursery, which are planted in the same soil have produced a large number of peppers already.
Thank you for taking the time to provide us with a review on these seedlings. We're sorry to hear that these have not produced many peppers. Our team would be happy to look into this and provide tips. You can contact us by emailing customerservice@pepperjoe.com.
Cherry Hot Pepper Plant Seedlings
I am very pleased with my purchase of cherry hot pepper plant seedlings. I followed the planting advice and my plants are thriving. This is the second year buying seedlings from pepper joe’s and very pleased with the quality of the plants and how well they grow.
Seedlings came healthy and ready to thrive! I’ve had to pinch them off because they were doing so well to early in the season!
they just stole my money, never got the two cherry hot peppers I ordered.
Thank you for taking the time to provide us with feedback. For estimated shipping times on your order, please contact us at customerservice@pepperjoe.com.
If you can't accurately label your pepper plants, you have absolutely no business selling them. This level of incompetency is unacceptable. When I order seeds or live plants, I expect to get exactly what I paid for, no exceptions. I ordered 4 Cherry Pepper plants a few months ago. They recently flowered and now have several pods, the problem is... THEY ARE NOT CHERRY PEPPERS. They are almost certainly Shishito Peppers, which I have absolutely no use for. Cherry Peppers are extremely hard to find here in So Cal where I live. You can't find them fresh, nurseries don't sell them, you are lucky if you can find them pickled in a jar. Shishito Peppers on the other hand are a dime a dozen at every grocery store here. Even most super hots are readily available here everywhere. The one thing I was looking most forward to this growing season were these Cherry Peppers. I was going to make Cherry Pepper Relish. Now Pepper Joe ruined it. I WILL NEVER WASTE MY TIME OR MONEY ORDERING FROM YOU EVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you for taking the time to provide us with feedback and we are sorry to hear you are not satisfied with your experience. Customer reviews help us to improve our processes as well as the overall customer experience. Please take a picture of what you received and send to customerservice@pepperjoe.com and we will gladly take a look at this and provide a resolution.
These peppers are very strange and look more like your yellow T-Rex pepper. Kind of disappointed because I really wanted hot Cherry. Would love to send you a photo.
Thank you for providing us with feedback and we are sorry to hear about your experience. Please email your order number and photo to customerservice@pepperjoe.com and we'd be happy to look into this.
The seedlings made it to me in great shape and even grew some while waiting for replanting. But ever since I played them outdoors they’ve barely grown at all. I have other peppers too (banana & jalapeño) and they’ve taken off, towering over my mini cherry peppers!
Ordered 2 very expensive cherry bomb plants and they are still struggling,
While the ones my sister bought at her local nursery are thriving.
she lives 75 miles from me. I've gardened for years, do research etc. know what to do.

These plants have been in the ground for over a month, i good soil, well fertilized and are only marginally bigger than when planted. Epic fail!
Hello, hot peppers can be tricky to germinate. Here is the process we follow and see 95% success rate across the board. They are very particular to soil temp requiring 80-85* and can take up to 6 weeks to germinate. I hope this helps! Let us know what other questions you may have!

Cherry Hot Pepper Plants – Live Pepper Seedlings
They looked good, followed the instructions, planned them, then they died
First plants in the mail, but got them safely started. Healthy little buggers. They’ve grown, flowered, and set fruit by the first week of June, so they’re doing what they should, I’m just not sure that I’ll be getting buckets of peppers off them, but that’s my gardening and living in 5a.
Plant arrived packaged great! No dead plants. I was afraid the smaller ones wouldn’t survive because the weather has be wonky here in NY. All plants are thriving. Happy with this purchase!
I’ve purchased seeds in the past as well and never had an issue. I will buy again
