Ingredients
-
Carolina Reaper Salsa (up to 1 jar)
-
Carolina Reaper Cheddar Cheese (up to 1 block)
-
2 Tbsp Carolina Reaper Flakes (do however amount you want!)
-
2 Tbsp Carolina Reaper Powder (do however amount you want!)
-
1 lb ground beef
-
1 6oz can tomato paste
-
1 can kidney beans
-
1 can chili beans
-
1 cup diced tomatoes (or 1 12oz can)
-
1 cup sliced mushrooms (or 1 16oz can)
-
1 small yellow onion
-
1 green pepper
-
3-5 Jalapenos
-
1 tbsp cumin
-
1 tbsp chili powder
-
Salt & pepper to taste
-
1 cup sour cream (optional garnish)
-
1/2 cup green onions (optional garnish)
Directions
Wash and dry the fresh produce. Medium dice the onion, green pepper, and tomatoes. Slice the Jalapeños and mushrooms.
Add a drizzle of oil to a frying pan, and brown the beef over medium high heat. Drain and remove from heat.
Add salsa, beans, diced tomatoes, onions, green peppers, Jalapeños, and mushrooms to slow cooker. Stir in 1/2 cup water (use an empty salsa/bean jar for added flavor). Stir in up to one 6 oz can of tomato paste, to achieve your preferred chili thickness and texture.
Add cumin, chili powder, Reaper Powder, Reaper Flakes, and salt & pepper to taste. Stir all ingredients, then add cooked ground beef. Stir and test for consistency. Add more water or tomato paste until desired consistency is achieved (for chunkier chili, use more paste and less water). Cook on HIGH for 4 hours or LOW for 8 hours.
Once chili is finished cooking, grate Pepper Joe's Carolina Reaper Cheddar Cheese.
Garnish chili with sliced green onions, sour cream, and shredded cheese. (We like to put some shredded cheese on the bottom of the bowl before serving, then garnish more on top after serving.) Enjoy!
