Basil Anise is a terrific herb originally from Persia. It has a spicy anise-licorice flavor and strong fragrance that lends itself well to tomato sauce, fish, and many Italian and Thai dishes. This annual herb blooms later than other basil, which allows for a longer harvest season.
Most importantly, Anise Basil is an excellent companion plant for peppers and tomatoes. Bees and other important pollinators will appreciate you adding this delicious herb to your garden or growing containers!
Anise Basil Growing Tips:
Grows best in full sun with regular watering. Can be direct sowed in warm soil or started indoors if you have a shorter growing season. Sow seeds 1/4" deep and thin to about 16" apart once growth occurs.
Pruning helps develop a bushier and healthier plant. Harvest leaves once they reach 6-8" height.
