Description:

The Aji Pineapple pepper is a rare and exotic variety originating from Peru. This Capsicum baccatum pepper stands out from the crowd with its vibrant appearance and tropical taste. It is very similar to the Aji Lemon Drop pepper but has a slightly different flavor. The Aji Pineapple gets its name from it’s unique flavor among baccatum types. Many baccatum peppers have a mild, sweet, and fruity flavor. However, the Aji Pineapple are much more tart, citrusy, and floral.

The pendant shaped pepper pods reach 2-3 inches in length. They start green and mature to a sunny yellow or orange. The Aji Pineapple pepper plants grow to about 2-4 feet tall. If you are on the lookout for a high producing variety, this is the pepper for you. It produces enormous yields. One plant may produce several dozen peppers.

With a moderate heat level (typically 30,000 to 50,000 Scoville Heat Units), they offer a beautiful balance of spiciness and sweetness, similar to fresh pineapple. Perfect for adding a zesty punch to salsas, sauces, and marinades, the Aji Pineapple chili promises to elevate your culinary creations with its exotic charm.

4 seeds planted, got 4 healthy plants!

I was thrilled when all 4 of my planted seeds sprouted! They're gorgeous, healthy plants now and I'm anxiously awaiting these little beauties turning yellow. This is one of three varieties of seeds I purchased from Pepper Joe's, and 11 out of 12 seeds yielded beautiful plants. Very pleased and already shopping for next season's seeds!

  • What You'll Need

    Soil and Tray Method

    Seed Starting Supplies
  • Plant your Seeds

    1. Pre-saturate your seed starting soil mix. Ensure the seed starting mix is fully saturated prior to planting your seed.
    2. Make a ¼-inch hole in the center of each seed starting cell. A #2 pencil eraser is a great tool for making these holes.
    3. Place your seed and cover gently with soil.
You can plant up to 4 seeds per cell to help ensure successful germination.
  • 4. Place your heat mat under  your base tray and your humidity dome on top. For best results, set your temperature controller between 75 - 80 degrees.

    5. Place your plant light above the seed starting tray and turn on. Refer to the plant light manufacturers instructions for the optimal distance. Plant light should remain on for 14 to 16 hours per day.

    6. Enjoy watching them grow! See our full instruction page below for more information.
