Description:

The Lombok Chili pepper gets its namesake from the Indonesian island of Lombok where it originated from. Eventually, this pepper made its way to America, and has become a popular chili pepper to use!

These pepper plants grow well in most environments and can reach heights of up to 3 ft. – even higher when planted directly into the ground. Lombok pepper plants boast high yields of these 6” long peppers that ripen to a bright, shiny red color at maturity. Pods are cone-shaped that taper off to a straight or curved point. The points of these fruits don’t have any heat, which allows them to be eaten fresh like sweet peppers.

Because of their great taste and sweet mild flavor, Lombok peppers have many culinary uses. In Indonesia, they are mostly pureed into a paste called Sambal, but others have used these peppers for roasting and adding to fresh foods.

I'm thrilled to give these Lombok pepper seeds a well-deserved five-star rating. Growing them outdoors in the challenging Alaskan climate has been a success, and I'm now transitioning them indoors with the onset of freezing nights. The 100% germination rate was impressive, and the plants are thriving. The peppers themselves are a culinary delight, adding the perfect touch to various dishes in our kitchen. Their versatility, combined with their prolific yield, makes them a must-have for any gardening enthusiast. Highly recommended! I ad previously posted a 90% germination rate but with time that changed to 100%.

  • What You'll Need

    Soil and Tray Method

    Seed Starting Supplies
  • Plant your Seeds

    1. Pre-saturate your seed starting soil mix. Ensure the seed starting mix is fully saturated prior to planting your seed.
    2. Make a ¼-inch hole in the center of each seed starting cell. A #2 pencil eraser is a great tool for making these holes.
    3. Place your seed and cover gently with soil.
You can plant up to 4 seeds per cell to help ensure successful germination.
  • 4. Place your heat mat under  your base tray and your humidity dome on top. For best results, set your temperature controller between 75 - 80 degrees.

    5. Place your plant light above the seed starting tray and turn on. Refer to the plant light manufacturers instructions for the optimal distance. Plant light should remain on for 14 to 16 hours per day.

    6. Enjoy watching them grow! See our full instruction page below for more information.
