The Santaka Hot Japanese Pepper is a very popular variety used in a lot of Asian cuisines. Released in 1955 from the Tochigi prefecture of Japan, this pepper has circulated around the region as a must-have cooking pepper.
Santaka pepper plants are great for containers as they grow up to 3 ft. tall. Pods grow upward at a rapid rate, changing from green to a bright red color. These plants look beautiful with its dark green foliage and bright red peppers. Harvesting Santaka peppers is easy – they pop right off the plant!
These peppers are known for their hot and spicy flavor that adds quite a bit of heat to any food dish. Many Asian cuisines use these fresh peppers in a variety of dishes such as stir-fries and soups.
