The Shishito Pepper is a staple in Japan, and is becoming very popular in the U.S. The Shishito Pepper plant grows to around 3 feet and produces heavily wrinkled peppers. When they are ripe, they will be mild 3-4 inches peppers with thin walls. They will be ready to harvest in 60 days and can be picked green, or you can wait until they are red which will be a sweeter flavor. They are known to be used for stir fries, sautéed in oil, and are perfect for tempura! Fun Fact: Shishito is a Japanese abbreviation for Lion’s Head.
