About the Apocalypse Scorpion Pepper

The Apocalypse Scorpion pepper, also known simply as the Apocalypse Pepper, is a fearsome super-hot chili developed in Italy by members of the Italian pepper association AIASP. Known for its wrinkled, menacing look and blistering heat, this variety can reach up to 1,400,000 Scoville Heat Units (SHU) comparable to the legendary Carolina Reaper.

Its bold red pods and intense burn make it a favorite among competitive growers and hot sauce enthusiasts seeking their next challenge. Find everything you need to get started in our Seed Starting Supplies Collection

🌿 Plant Characteristics

Apocalypse Scorpion plants grow to about 3 feet tall and produce 3-inch, bumpy, red pods with thick, blistered skin.
Because this is an unstable hybrid, expect natural variation in color and shape ranging from bright red to peach or even creamy white.

Note: Variations in fruit shape or color are normal with this variety. Each plant’s genetics express differently, making every harvest unique.

🌶️ Flavor & Heat

While the heat dominates, you’ll still notice sweet, fruity, and slightly floral notes beneath the fire.
This pepper is not for the faint of heart use caution when handling and preparing.

⚠️ Growing Note on Instability

Because this hybrid is still genetically unstable, seed-grown plants may produce pods that differ in color, shape, or even heat intensity.
This natural variability makes it an exciting choice for collectors and serious pepper growers.
Please note: seed variability is expected and not eligible for replacement.

Getting Started

So, you've received your seeds and are wondering what's next? At Pepper Joe's, we're committed to equipping you with everything you need to succeed in germinating the pepper seeds you've chosen. Our mission is to introduce you to a diverse array of pepper varieties, setting the stage for an exciting and rewarding gardening experience. Let's dive into the essentials together.

  • What You'll Need

    Soil and Tray Method

    Seed Starting Supplies
  • Plant your Seeds

    1. Pre-saturate your seed starting soil mix. Ensure the seed starting mix is fully saturated prior to planting your seed.
    2. Make a ¼-inch hole in the center of each seed starting cell. A #2 pencil eraser is a great tool for making these holes.
    3. Place your seed and cover gently with soil.
You can plant up to 4 seeds per cell to help ensure successful germination.
  • 4. Place your heat mat under  your base tray and your humidity dome on top. For best results, set your temperature controller between 75 - 80 degrees.

    5. Place your plant light above the seed starting tray and turn on. Refer to the plant light manufacturers instructions for the optimal distance. Plant light should remain on for 14 to 16 hours per day.

    6. Enjoy watching them grow! See our full instruction page below for more information.

Day 62 review 8/12 germinated. Great Seeds!

Germination was much slower than the Reaper and Death Spiral but still had great success. I could've had 100% germination if I had a better set up. Would 100% recommend.
