Description:

Jay’s Peach Ghost Scorpion (often abbreviated JPGS) is a highly regarded super hot pepper known for its beautiful peach-colored pods, complex fruity flavor, and slow-building heat. Bred in Pennsylvania by Jay Weaver as a cross between Ghost Pepper and Trinidad Scorpion varieties, this unique hybrid offers intense heat with slightly more restraint than a traditional Ghost.

Grown hydroponically in a controlled environment, our Jay’s Peach Ghost Scorpion plants arrive healthy, pest-free, and ready to establish quickly once transplanted.

What You’ll Receive

  • Jay’s Peach Ghost Scorpion pepper plant hydroponically grown in rockwool (no soil)

  • Plant height at shipping: Approx. 4” tall

  • Actively growing with a strong, well-developed root system

  • Care instructions included

  • Bonus: 4-pack orders include a FREE sample compost tea fertilizer

Because our plants are grown hydroponically, they will require an adjustment period after transplanting into soil or containers. To learn more about our methods and to ensure success, review the sections below: Our Live Plant Growing & Shipping Process and When Your Live Pepper Plants Arrive.

About Jay’s Peach Ghost Scorpion Pepper

Jay’s Peach Ghost Scorpion is a Capsicum chinense hybrid prized for its striking color and layered heat profile. Pods typically grow up to 3 inches long with wrinkled skin and occasional stinger tails, ripening from green through shades of red and pink before reaching a final peach color.

  • Heat Level: Extremely hot (slightly less than Ghost Pepper)

  • Flavor: Bright, fruity, and aromatic with a slow-building heat

  • Pepper Appearance: Wrinkled peach-colored pods with occasional stinger tails

  • Culinary Use: Hot sauces, powders, dehydrated flakes, and specialty superhot recipes

Our Live Plant Process

Our Live Plant Growing & Shipping Process

At Pepper Joe's, our live pepper plants are grown with care from the very beginning to ensure customers receive strong, healthy plants ready to thrive.

All of our pepper plants are greenhouse grown hydroponically in rockwool, allowing for consistent nutrition, controlled growing conditions, and strong root development. Many varieties are started as early as December, giving plants ample time to mature before shipping season begins in April.

Each plant is grown to approximately 4 inches before being prepared for shipment. Prior to shipping, every plant is individually inspected by a member of our greenhouse team to ensure it meets our quality standards.

Plants are shipped in a protective mini greenhouse made from recycled material, specially sourced to help safeguard live plants during transit. This packaging helps maintain plant structure and reduce stress while traveling to your door.

When Your Live Pepper Plants Arrive

When Your Live Pepper Plants Arrive

Your live pepper plants are shipped in custom packaging to protect them during transit. Some mild wilting after shipping is normal and usually resolves quickly.

Upon arrival:

  • Gently unbox your plant and inspect it.
  • The roots are surrounded by rockwool, a lightweight, soil-free growing material that helps retain moisture and protect the roots. Do not remove the rockwool.
  • Some drooping after shipping is normal. Water immediately upon arrival and allow up to 24 hours for recovery.

  • If your plant arrives with significant damage or doesn't improve after 24 hours, please contact us immediately via our contact form.

Transplanting:

  • Plant the rockwool end 2–3 inches deep into well-draining potting soil using a container at least 1 gallon in size.
  • Water thoroughly after planting and allow excess moisture to drain.

Before moving outdoors:

  • Soil temperatures should be 65°F or warmer
  • Nighttime temperatures should remain above 55°F
  • No risk of frost

Once conditions are right, harden off your new plants gradually by introducing them to outdoor conditions over several days before full sun exposure.

For detailed, step-by-step instructions, visit our Pepper Plant Care page.

If you have any concerns, please reach out through our contact form and our team will be happy to help.

JPGS grew so fast I was shocked

Got the JPGS around April, it came thick and dark green as a small plant but it grew incredibly fast. Producing full size peppers before any other plants even started to bud. I was so surprised at how well it took, and has been growing wicked looking peach pods. 5 star quality plant!

Hi Matthew, we're thrilled to hear your JPGS are thriving and producing such amazing peppers! Thanks for sharing your experience and for the 5-star praise. If you would like please send pictures of your peppers to customerservice@pepperjoe.com. Happy gardening!

Arrived ok died within 2 weeks. Not sure what's going on.

I've spent over 150$ on live plants from these guys over the last couple months and every plant has died. They arrive ok, looks fine, then show zero growth after transplanting then die within a couple weeks. I thought it was somehow something I did but that's not the case. These last 8 plants I followed their directions to the T and had the same results in 8 different breeds of pepper plants. Something pepperjoe is doing is NOT ok. Other reviews are saying the same thing. I believe it's whatever they using as a foamy substrate to ship the live plants in.

Hi Brandon,
Thanks for taking the time to leave a review! We're so sorry that none of your plants made it. We appreciate you reaching out to our customer service as well to discuss and reach a resolution. Don't hesitate to contact us again if you need anything! Thank you for your feedback!

Did not survive

Upon arrival the peach pepper plants soils were deteriorated. We tried nursing the plants back but were unable to. We did however have a different better experience with the chocolate habaneros.

Hi Bill,
Thank you for reviewing our Jay's Peach Ghost Scorpion seedlings! We're bummed to hear that these didn't do well for you. A member of our team will be contacting you shortly to look into this and offer further assistance. We appreciate your time!

Very Disappointed

The first set I got in the mail had white and green fuzzy mold on them and the leaves looked yellowed and sick. They did not survive a very gradual transition outside and transplant to the garden. I received a second set that looked healthier on arrival but they also both died, even with a very gentle slow and gradual transition outside then to the garden. I tried everything to get them to survive but nothing worked and I’ve never had this problem with live plants from anywhere else. This happened with every single one of the live pepper plants I purchased from pepper Joes and I’m very disappointed, especially considering the cost of them and shipping. I wonder if the medium in which they grow and arrive in makes transplanting and survival very difficult. I would never recommend these to anyone.

Hi Paige,
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us! We're so sorry to hear that none of your plants survived. A member of our team has reached out directly to dig into this and hopefully come to a resolution. We look forward to working with you!

Perfect!

Plants came in great shape and didn't miss a beat after planting. They are healthy and growing beautifully.

I've never grown peppers started hydroponically before so was a little hesitant but my doubts were quickly replaced with joy.

Peppers did not survive - but Pepper Joes Stood behind them

I live in Florida - the peppers were planted as soon as they arrived with other peppers I purchased locally - 2 of the 4 died and the other two are struggling. I am disappointed as I really wanted to try new peppers. They were planted properly and watered regularly.

UPDATE my review - In spite of the plants not making it - Pepper Joes helped me by walking through the best way to get them started and then immediately sent me new plants. I am now following their directions and the plants are doing great! Thank you for stepping up and I am HAPPY to change my review rating from 1 to 5 stars!

Thanks again

Died on me.

I bought 4 different pepper plants at once. Unfortunately, this particular pepper species died on me fairly quickly while the others are thriving. Maybe this plant just didn't like my zone....

Lindsey,
Thank you for your review! We are so sorry to hear that your Jay’s Peach Ghost Scorpion Pepper Plants did not survive. Pepper plants can be particular to their environment and there could be a variety of reasons these plants did not make it. Our team will be reaching out to you directly to further investigate and offer support. We look forward to working with you!

Divided Right Now

Ordered four plants. One shriveled in transit but was replaced after speaking to customer service (who was great, btw). Two of the original order are doing well. The other two, including the replacement, are not. Unsure what went wrong. Hopefully the strong ones continue to do well and bare plenty of peppers. Fingers crossed.

David,
Thank you for your feedback! We are so sorry to hear that 2 of the plants from your order are not doing well. This could be due to a variety of reasons and our team will be reaching out to you directly to look into this further. We look forward to working with you!

Peach Ghost Scorpion

The peach ghost scorpions that I purchased don't look like any of the pictures of peach ghost scorpions that I've seen online. Mine look like habaneros.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with a review. Our customer service team would be happy to look into this. Please send a picture of your plants and peppers along with your order number to our team at customerservice@pepperjoe.com.

Title says it all; what a bummer. A few months after planting, I was greeted with orange habaneros.

Slow growing

These plants have no grown much, they have good soil and plenty of sunlight. One of them doesn’t like the outside. Every time I put it outside it starts to wilt bring it back inside and it comes back to life but is no more and five inches tall.

Scorpion Pepper Plant Seedlings

I bought 4 seedlings a few weeks back for the first time. I was nervous about what shipping might do to a live plant but I’m happy to say that all arrived safely. My plants are thriving and on their way to producing multiple peppers per plant at the moment.

Thanks Pepper Joes and crew for always providing top notch products!
