Description:

Once a previous world record holder as the hottest pepper in the world, the Moruga Trinidad Scorpion chili was developed at the New Mexico State University Chili Pepper Institute and is incredibly hot! This pepper held the prestigious honor in 2012, but was quickly stripped of its title by the Carolina Reaper. Nevertheless, the Moruga Trinidad Scorpion hasn't faltered in terms of heat and flavor! While being tested, a senior research specialist went through four pairs of latex gloves when handling it, saying "the capsaicin kept penetrating the latex and getting on our hands...this has never happened before."

Features:

  • Moruga Trinidad Scorpion pepper plants grow to 3 ft. tall.
  • The plants produce produce many 2" long chiles shaped like little bulbs with shiny skin and a bumpy texture.
  • The pods ripen from green to deep red when they reach maturity and peak heat.

Culinary Uses:

Moruga Trinidad Scorpion chilis have a fruity/cotton candy-type aroma with some having a hint of cinnamon. Check out our Recipes for inspiration!

Is taking a while to grow, bit is about 2 inches above the surface. Unlike the chocolate habaneros that I got from you.they are about 4 foot tall now,and are already producing peppers.the Carolina reapers are doing great.they haven't budded yet,but are in a 5 gallon bucket.they love the sunlight.

  • What You'll Need

    Soil and Tray Method

    Seed Starting Supplies
  • Plant your Seeds

    1. Pre-saturate your seed starting soil mix. Ensure the seed starting mix is fully saturated prior to planting your seed.
    2. Make a ¼-inch hole in the center of each seed starting cell. A #2 pencil eraser is a great tool for making these holes.
    3. Place your seed and cover gently with soil.
You can plant up to 4 seeds per cell to help ensure successful germination.
  • 4. Place your heat mat under  your base tray and your humidity dome on top. For best results, set your temperature controller between 75 - 80 degrees.

    5. Place your plant light above the seed starting tray and turn on. Refer to the plant light manufacturers instructions for the optimal distance. Plant light should remain on for 14 to 16 hours per day.

    6. Enjoy watching them grow! See our full instruction page below for more information.
