Description:
If you want a pepper that’s bursting at the seams with flavor, then look no further than the Xochiteco pepper! Native to Mexico, these tiny peppers grow beautifully on slender plants, but also pack a punch with heat levels reaching as high as 20,000 SHUs!
Xochiteco peppers are smooth pods that resemble a Pequin pepper, but they don’t grow pointing upward. These plants reach anywhere from 3 to 4 ft. tall and are very productive, growing many teardrop-shaped peppers that average out to roughly 1” long. Peppers will ripen from green to red, and when ripe, the tiny pods will easily slip off the branch.
Use Xochiteco peppers to make a nice fruity hot sauce or chop these peppers up and cook them into stir-fries and soups. These juicy, delectable peppers are also a great addition to fresh salads and other foods.
