WARNING: Plants adjust to small, gradual changes in their environment better than sudden shifts, which is what the hardening off process is all about. Just as you get burned when you bare your untanned skin to the sun, leaves of plants started indoors will develop pale, sunburned patches if they are suddenly exposed to too much sun. The story has a happier ending when you introduce seedlings to bright light and sheltered breezes gradually, over a period of one to three weeks. Read more information on how to harden off and transplant pepper plants in 6 steps.

Will buy again
Ordered twice. First order arrived healthy but one of the plants did not survive to get planted outdoors. The other barely survived. I ordered again and it was closer to planting time, so they are doing well.
I've gotten these for a few years in a row now, and every time I get them they're shaken up and sideways or flattened in the box. They're usually salvageable but the amount of shock that they undergo is just unnecessary. I ship plants for a living so I understand the idea behind what you're going for but in practice it never works as well as it should. One of each of the varieties that I ordered this year (Thai Blend and the Pink Tiger x Peach Bhut) have died. The other two are still small but they are doing pretty well. I have other pepper plants from Pepper Joe's that I started from seed myself and they've all grown much stronger and larger, much faster than the live plants I ordered. But again I think that has a lot to do with the shipping shock.
These plants all went straight into the garden upon arrival. Very little growth to date. They look health, just aren't growing/flowering/etc.
First the plants were hard topped to fit in the shipping box. Then they were not secured well so after 2 weeks they are still recovering for losing half there leaves from being pinched in shipping as the cardboard seperate shifted in transit. This was part of a second shipment the first shipment I lost half the peppers during hardening to go outside.
